You are cordially invited to participate in the IX-th International Conference
“Ion Implantation and Other Applications of Ions and Electrons”, ION 2012. The
conference will be held in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland,
from June 25 to June 28, 2012.
The IX-th International Conference on Ion
Implantation and other Applications of Ions and Electrons –
ION 2012 will be held in
between 25-th and 28-th June 2012.
Kazimierz Dolny is a
historic Renaissance town founded in the XV-th century by the Polish king,
Kazimierz the Great. It is located on the hills with a
magnificient view of the Vistula River.
The conference is
organized on the biennial basis by the Institute of Physics, Maria
Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin,
Wrocław University of Technology, Lublin University of Technology and Lublin
Branch of Polish Physical Society. The place of the conference i.e.
hotel is ideally located within easy walking distance from the centre of
As with previous conferences, ION 2012 will
be focused mainly on ion implantation, a powerful tool for the modification of
the subsurface layers of solid materials. Although the technique has been in use
in the electronic industry for a few decades, there still remain many phenomena
involved in the implantation process that are not well understood and are of
considerable interest, for both fundamental science and also for new
developments in applied materials science. One can highlight, in particular,
mechanisms of ion energy loss in the bombarded material, creation of radiation
defects, the formation of latent tracks, and many other phenomena that
researchers are now intensively investigating. An improved understanding of such
processes is essential for the effective application of analytical techniques
like RBS, ERD, SIMS, PIPE and others.
The ION 2012 Conference
will continue to present state-of-the-art ion and electron beam science and
technology and its application in materials engineering. It has to be noted
particularly that this now well-established series of biennial ION conferences
has created a unique opportunity for scientists from Eastern and Western Europe
together with their Polish colleagues, to discuss in a most agreeable
environment, some of the fundamental questions in their field and develop new
perspectives through the mutual exchange of ideas.
The following topics should represent the focus of
the ION 2012:
modification of layers using ion, electron and plasma technologies,
characterization with application of ions and electrons,
ion beam micro- and
fundamentals of ion
beam interactions with solids,
mass spectrometry and
proceedings of the ION 2012 Conference will be published in
contributions will be refereed. The details of manuscript preparation are
enclosed in the Guide
to Authors of Papers in Acta
Physica Polonica A.
Invited papers must not exceed 8 journal pages. Contributed (oral and poster)
papers must not exceed 4 journal printed pages which is equivalent to 2600
words. One table or figure is equivalent to 150 words. For example, a
contributed paper containing 5 figures: 1850 words + 5 figures = 2600 = 4
printed pages in Acta Physica Polonica A. The manuscript (original plus one
copy), should be provided with a CD to
the ION 2012 Conference Office during the registration.
On behalf of the
Scientific and Organising Committees
of the ION 2012 Conference we cordially invite you to participate in this event.
